Sources
Gold and silver spot values come from a professional market-data provider, with an automatic fallback source if the primary feed is interrupted. Values arrive in euro per troy ounce and are converted to grams at exactly 31.1034768 g/oz t. Currency reference rates are the official European Central Bank rates, published once per business day, supplemented by a daily reference feed for currencies the ECB does not cover; where an intraday market rate is displayed, it comes from a market-data provider and is labelled 'Market' to distinguish it from the official reference.
Refresh schedule and caching
Our server fetches each value on a schedule during business hours and caches it between refreshes — every visitor sees the same verified number rather than triggering their own request. Outside business hours the last value remains on display, clearly timestamped. If a source fails, we keep showing the last received value with its original time — never an estimate, never an extrapolation.
The freshness statuses
Every displayed value carries the exact time it was fetched and a status computed from its age: Current, Recent, Delayed or Stale. The status answers one question honestly — how old is this number? — so you never have to guess. All values on this site are informational reference data, not our commercial prices; those are always confirmed in a personal quote.
